seaside weddings

christina + victor • sweden

Christina & Victor's relaxed Swedish/Scottish wedding by the sea was every bit as wonderful as I had expected.

There was sun (although there was also a bitter cold wind!), There was several Swedish wedding traditions (with a scottish twist), there was wine (but there was also some pretty lethal schnapps!) and there was singing... lots and lots of singing (and some flag waving thrown in for good measure!).

It was a pretty special combination that made for one very unique and fabulous wedding. A real experience to be part of and to photograph... thank you Christina & Victor x

Majella & Peter wed - it's a family affair!

There was thankfully a break in the howling winds and the pouring rain last Saturday, just in time for the wedding of Majella & Peter in Ardrossan - and I couldn't have been more relieved!

There may not have been any sunshine (I think the bridesmaids and flower girls fur boleros came in handy) but there was enough warmth from Majella's & Peters huge number of family and friends who attended their big day.

I didn't realise that when Majella had asked for a shot of everyone in her family, that the 37 people were only her 'immediate' family, but what can you expect with 8 brothers and sisters!

A lot of weddings I go to now friends play a huge part and make up most of the numbers but there was a real focus on family at Majella and Peter's wedding, a really mixed bunch of young and old but all part of the family.  I really liked it and it made for a very busy but fantastic day all round.

I don't think I had photographed a bride so calm and relaxed as Majella, she really appeared to just settle into the day and savour every moment, no stress, no nerves, well not that anyone could see... really impressive stuff, I'd like to know her secret!

Jill & Keir engagement - blustery Troon beach

Last Sunday morning I headed for the coast to photograph the gorgeous Jill & Keir in Keir's hometown of Troon.

Known mainly for it's golf courses, Troon is a typical west of Scotland seaside town...it has the perfect mix of golden sand and rocky coastline and you can always guarantee a good blustery wind with a little bite to give your cheeks some extra colour!

It was great spend some time with Jill & Keir to get to know them a little better and begin to get a sense of who they are and what makes them click as people. Keir gives the impression of being 'the quiet one' when you first meet him but it wasn't long before I discovered he was a natural behind the camera and took to self-directing some poses or 'bossying' as Jill called it. One thing for sure is Jill & Keir are great together and I hope that shows in my photos...

Afterwards I was well looked after with offers of tea to warm me up and Keir's mum's 'rocky road' to see me right before the journey home... I had such a great time and can't wait to photograph their big day.
