ALL THAT GLITTERS - STYLED WEDDING/FASHION SHOOT AT MOUNT STUART, SCOTLAND

So just as wedding season mayhem was about to kick off a few of my fellow wedding supplier friends and I knocked our heads together and decided we'd love to do a styled shoot in one of my favourite wedding locations 'MOUNT STUART' on the Isle of Bute.

I was totally blown away by the venue when I shot there in February of this year (See Kerry & Graham's wedding blogged on LOVE MY DRESS blog here) and was desperate to return to the venue to use it as a back drop for something a little different.

You won't see any table settings or invite ideas in this shoot, we really wanted it to be fashion focused and basically we just wanted to have a little fun. So we all took a ferry ride across the water and spent the day enjoying the drama that Mount Stuart has to offer.

Inspired by the grandeur, dark corridors and the bold colours of Mount Stuart which is a gothic mansion on an island off the cost of Scotland. We wanted to create a shoot that would inspire those looking for an alternative to floaty bridal and bridesmaid dresses. Gowns that would allow individuality, that look fashionable and are accessible to everyone but yet ooze effortless glamour.

Dresses were sourced from ASOS, NEEDLE And THREAD, Badgley Mischka, Lazaro which are totally perfect for winter weddings with late night parties!

Modern accessories and simple flowers and foilage were created by the uber talented Sophie from 'I HEART FLOWERS' that compliment the simplicity of the dresses.

Fabulous Make Up Artist CAT ROBERTSON kept eyes heavy using tones of dark coppers and golds and hair stylist GILLIAN (from Pin-UP Hair) wanted hair to look effortless and feminine.

I just wanted to play around with the images. I'm so inspired by fashion photography and although I relish capturing unposed moments whilst shooting weddings it was lovely to work in some drama and embrace the models looking right down the lens of the camera.

It was also just ace to do something a little different from our day to day. I'm excited to finally be putting it out there.

Alex + Hugo • couple shoot

The forecast wasn't looking too great for the first Saturday of 2015 but thankfully the weather gods changed their mind and as I left a snowy bleak Glasgow the sun came out over Portobello Beach just in time for Alex & Hugo's pre-wed shoot. It turned out to be the most crisp glorious winter day we'd had for a long time. Our luck was in!

I love this part of Edinburgh and was excited that Alex & Hugo had chose it as their pre-wed location and a place for us to catch up whilst they were visiting from London to arrange their Edinburgh wedding.

Back then their wedding and Spring felt like a long way away... well now it's finally here and next week I get to photograph these two gorgeous faces all over again! Woohooo! Can't wait.

My 2014 went something like this...

So I wasn't going to do one of these blog posts, mainly down to the reason that (if I'm honest) they are so time consuming...and come the 23rd December, after shooting the most weddings I have ever shot in one year, I am ready to shut down my computer and have a proper break.

But I'm really glad I decided to do it.

2014 was a tough year mostly due to the number of weddings I shot and will ever shoot again (I've already promised my husband I'll do less next year!). It was really hard going and I feel like the year has gone by so quickly.

Doing this blog post though has reminded me of all those amazing weddings (and other shoots)...I can remember taking every image I've chosen. It certainly was hard work at the time, but so worth it.

I hope you like my selection... not the most obvious of choices from some shoots I know, but these are my faves that when I instantly see... I just love. I haven't blogged half of these but I expect to catch up with blogging in the new year!

So with this little (long!) blog post I am signing out until 2015!
