stewart + ming • couple shoot

I have to admit, I love a last minute enquiry... and Stewart & Ming's was just that. They were due to leave sunny California and come to Scotland to get married in a month and somehow stumbled upon my website whilst doing some more wedding research. Having already booked their wedding photographer they liked my photography that much that they wanted a shoot with me so decided last minute to squeeze in a couple shoot just days before their wedding. And I'm so glad they did!

I travelled to Gargunnock, the village where Stewart is from, in torrential rain and due to the tight timings there was no time to reschedule due to 'bad weather' we just had to go for it and thankfully Stewart & Ming felt the same.

This shoot was amazing. We had a break in the rain at the beginning and at the end but in between the heavens opened as we were stood in the middle of a field! These shots are some of my favourite shots I've ever taken and one of them won me a PHOTOGRAPHY FARM IMAGE OF THE WEEK which I'm super proud about.

Sometimes it's worth braving the rain...

natalie + ify • glasgow

Honestly one of the wildest wedding's I've ever photographed...in the best possible sense! Natalie & Ify are just the loveliest of couples. I did nothing but laugh for the entire duration of their couple shoot at Kelvingrove. Natalie's laugh is infectious... so I knew the wedding was going to be fun.

Lots of Ify's Nigerian family had flown over especially for the wedding...and apparently in typically Nigerian style, missed it (YES... as in MISSED THE WEDDING!) but were there to welcome the happy couple as they left the University Chapel dressed to the nines in amazing traditional Nigerian dress.

What then followed was just the craziest party with Three Sisters Bake providing the feast and Natalie & Ify providing the booze (ALL OF IT!). Who else can say there was a dance off BEFORE their first dance to the band sound checking! I told you... totally wild and utterly brilliant. There would have been a lot of guests with sore heads the next day but I can guarantee they would all be saying 'that was one hell of a wedding'...

footloose in france...

YES June is considered 'peak' wedding season, YES it normally is one of my busiest months and YES I just went on holiday for 10 days in June.

Late last year after looking at my calendar I decided to block out some time at the beginning of June for some time out and I booked a family holiday to the South of France. Madness maybe, I could have shot about 5 weddings within this time... this would have a major impact financially but I think I somehow knew that come June I'd be in need of a break.

My wedding season started a lot earlier this year and I shot weddings in January and February (I'm lucky enough to be able to usually take these months off) but in order to spread out my work load this year and not cram a load of weddings in during wedding season only... oh and to allow me to have some sort of life during the summer I decided to spread my bookings out a bit.

I'm a glad I did... I just spent 10 glorious days with my little family doing nothing but eating, drinking, cycling, sunning myself, walking barefoot and being immersed in water for hours on end with my little one at the pool.

Here's a little taste of one of our best family holidays to date...
